Each passage is labelled with the evidence behind it; “Fictional scene” marks the story itself.

*(Fictional scene)*

*(Fictional scene)*

Brahman, I enter the house! *(Supported)*

"I enter!" "Very good," சொன்னா. *(Fictional scene)*

*(Supported)*

Nice." *(Supported)*

*(Fictional scene)*

அப்புறம் Brahmanas-க்கு சாப்பாடு கொடுத்து, Lucky is the ground! "Lucky is the ground! Lucky is the ground!" *(Supported)*

*(Supported)*

Stay ye here both-னு ஒரு hymn சொல்லி, தம்பதியை வீட்டுக்குள்ள நுழைய வைக்கறாங்க. *(Supported)*

*(Plausible, not proven)*

"Ready?" "Ready," சொன்னான் கண்ணன். "Lucky is the ground!" *(Fictional scene)*

*(Fictional scene)*

*(Fictional scene)*

Banyan Stories கேட்டதுக்கு thank you. *(Fictional scene)*

Max Muller (ed.). Supported: Translator notes say the bride arrives at the house and later enters it. With the hymn 'Stay ye here both' (Rig-veda X, 85, 42 seq.), the couple are made to enter the house. The notes also say a sacrifice before the house is probably like the Vastoshpatiya karman.

Max Muller (ed.). Plausible, not proven: The Sankhayana-Grihya-Sutra translation gives words spoken on entering a house: the speaker calls the house blessed, wealthy and protecting, and says he enters it with his wife, offspring, cattle and all that is his. Another verse in the same text describes a blessed, joyful house that does not bring death to men. It is described as bringing refreshment and dropping ghee. The text says this verse is constantly pronounced when he enters the house. The supplied evidence has no support for the episode slug's 'cows' or 'Pravargya' framing, and none for modern housewarming (griha pravesh) practice or regional customs. Episode content should stay with the Sankhayana entering-the-house rites.

Max Muller (ed.). Supported: In the entering-a-house rite, the man establishes the fire inside, seats the Brahman to the south and puts a water-pot to the north. He cooks a mess of sacrificial food, goes out and stands near the door, and says 'Brahman, I enter (the house)!'

Max Muller (ed.). Supported: The text says a man cooks a mess of food in the middle of the house and sacrifices from it with four verses to Vastoshpati. He then gives food to the Brahmanas to eat and has them say 'Lucky is the ground!' twice.

Max Muller (ed.). Supported: The text describes pouring an uninterrupted stream of water around the house. This is done when all sounds have ceased or the others have gone to the house or resting-place. The pourer starts at the south side of the door and ends at the north side, and a verse is spoken.
